Introducing the Bugaboo Donkey: A Revolution in Two-Child Strollers

There’s something strangely hypnotic about these stylish instructional videos for the new Bugaboo Donkey. It might be the music, or the demonstrator’s sort of awesome shoes, or it might be the way Bugaboo’s ingenious answer to that old two-child stroller problem rises effortlessly to meet every challenge. Need extra storage space for your single child stroller? The Donkey’s got it. Need a stroller for newborn twins that can take two car seats or two bassinets? The Donkey can. Want a side-by-side for your toddlers that you can actually fit through a door? The Donkey’s got you covered.

This newest edition to the Bugaboo menagerie has tons of exciting features, but one of the coolest has to be the way you shop for it. You can buy the Donkey in three different ways: as a single child stroller with the option to buy a second seat later (the Donkey Mono, as they call it), as a stroller for two children of different ages (the Donkey Duo), or as a stroller for twins (the Donkey Twin). The accessories that come with your Donkey suit the version you need, and boy, do you get a lot of accessories. Bassinets, rain covers for each seat, carry handles, the side luggage basket, the underseat basket – no matter how many children or how much stuff you’re hauling around, the Donkey can haul it for you.

The Donkey is available now for pre-order; just phone or e-mail (or come see us in person!) for more information about the double stroller of your dreams. Viva la revolucion!

Read: Colors by Charley Harper

Charley Harper (August 4, 1922 – June 10, 2007) was an American Modernist artist and illustrator well-known for his highly stylized depictions of wildlife and nature. At Little Urbanites, his inspired art prints, posters, and illustrated children’s books are some of our favorite products, and we’re proud to share his unique vision of the natural world with our customers.

His board book Colors is a perfect example of his vibrant, unmistakable style. There are hundreds of books designed to help children learn their colors (we sell quite a few of them ourselves) but no one does color like Charley Harper does color. His illustrations are unexpected, clever and completely unforgettable. His fondness for birds is certainly well represented here, but we also see some rather more unusual subjects – a steampunk lady in a bright pink hat, a top secret car in mod 1960s tan, and a brilliant yellow fire hydrant surrounded by animals of every size and color.

Whether you’re looking for books, toys, or wall prints, the wonderful art of Charley Harper is a perfect fit for your little urbanite.

LU Favorite Nikki McClure at the Museum of Contemporary Craft

Like many Portlanders, we’re huge fans of Pacific Northwest artist and author Nikki McClure. Her distinctive, evocative style gives each of her papercuts – created solely with paper and an X-acto knife – a wonderful life all its own.

The world as recreated in Nikki McClure’s work is full of love and warmth and meaning, and now the Portland Museum of Contemporary Craft is sharing that world in the first museum exhibition to focus on the artist’s fifteen-year career.  Nikki McClure: Cutting Her Own Path, 1996–2011 will be featured at the museum until October 29, 2011, so now is a perfect time to reacquaint yourself with her amazing work, or to discover it for the first time.

And for more Nikki McClure, check out her books, new parent journals, and greeting cards here at the Little Urbanites website or in our store!
