To start our new Modern Motherhood interview series off with a bang, the Little Urbanites blog team posed a few pertinent questions to one of our favorite artists – the Pacific Northwest’s own Nikki McClure. I met Nikki when I moved to Olympia, WA in the early 00′s and was immediately charmed by her wonderfully distinct style. She’s since established an inspiring collection of books, prints, and cards from her cut paper creations, and we are proud to carry her work here at Little Urbanites. Here are Nikki’s answers to the L.U. Modern Motherhood Questionnaire.
What is your must-have baby product?
Ruskovilla silk shirt and hat from Nordic Woollens. I get them for all the babies.
What do you look forward to everyday?
Waking up. I think of new ideas and images to explore. I just lay in bed and think as my family sleeps.
Describe your favorite piece of art or project that your child has made for you.
A picture of a red-winged blackbird flying over cattails as his way of saying «sorry, Mama» for a grumpy morning.
Do you read any “mommy blogs” or participate in any online parenting communities? If so, which are your favorites and why?
This site has always helped me in time of need. It makes all the weird things that happen seem normal. http://parents.berkeley.edu/
These are some of my favorite Nikki Prints.

This is so great! I love love love Nikki Mcclure. What a great feature. I hope to meet her someday, but I think I’d geek out if I did so it’s probably best that I don’t.:)
